Creating a Festival Bubble: Keeping Everyone Safe
It has been a very long year away from our festival friends, festival family, music and dancing. The Fresno Dixieland Society has now rescheduled the annual Sounds of Mardi Gras Festival for July 8-11, 2021. Our goal is to create a “Festival Bubble” with health safeguards to minimize health risks. As everyone knows, the public health situation still remains somewhat fluid. Therefore, while these guidelines are applicable now, there may be changes made by the date of the festival so please check back periodically before the festival.
COVID VACCINE AND ONSITE TESTING:
To be allowed entrance into the festival venues, you must have either proof of vaccination or a COVID-Negative Test as described below::
PROOF OF VACCINATION: Bring a copy of your vaccination card. This can be a photo on your smart phone or a paper copy. Please keep your original vaccination card safe at home; OR
COVID-NEGATIVE TEST PERFORMED WITHIN 72 HOURS OF ARRIVAL AT FESTIVAL: Bring proof of a Negative Covid Test performed within 72 hours of arriving at the festival consisting of a copy of a laboratory test result or a Doctor’s note confirming the negative test results along with the date and time that the test was performed; OR
COVID NEGATIVE TEST PERFORMED AT THE FESTIVAL: You can order the Abbot BinaxNOW COVID Test and this can be performed at the festival. Click on the following link for more information on how to order your test for onsite testing at the festival. This test is only necessary if you have not been vaccinated or do not have a negative test within 72 hours of arrival to the festival. Go to the following link for more information:
CHECK YOURSELF FOR SYMPTOMS: IF YOU HAVE ANY POSSIBLE COVID SYMTOMS PLEASE STAY HOME! Before leaving for the festival, perform a self-check to see if you have any of the following symptoms by clicking this button:
THE GOLD WRIST BAND: Everyone who is considered symptom free and is vaccinated or has had a negative Covid test as described above will be given a gold wrist band which must be worn at all times. Volunteers will be asking to see your gold wrist band and badge when you enter any festival venue.
VERY IMPORTANT: You will not be allowed into a venue if you do not have both your badge and a gold wrist band.
SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKS: We will follow Social Distancing and Mask Wearing rules as required by the DoubleTree. In public areas such as the lobby and hallways, you must continue to wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. Once inside the music venues, you may remove your mask if you wish to do so.
HAND HYGENE: Please practice good hand hygiene, using sanitizer and washing your hands frequently and respect each individual’s choice on personal protection measures.
DANCERS: If you are a dancer, we recommend using hand sanitizer before dancing with a new partner and washing your hands between sets. Courtesy also dictates that every dancer recognize that some dancers may still want to wear a mask or shield and/or use gloves.
