Creating a Festival Bubble:
Keeping Everyone as Safe as Possible
It has been a difficult time made worse by being away from our festival friends, festival family, music and dancing. We are thrilled that the Fresno Dixieland Society returns the Sounds of Mardi Gras Festival back to its usual winter slot February 10-13, 2022. Our goal is to recreate the successful “Festival Bubble” from July 2021 by putting some safeguards in place to minimize health risks. As everyone knows, the public health situation remains fluid. Therefore, while these guidelines are applicable now, there will likely be changes between now and the date of the festival, so please check back periodically before the festival.
COVID VACCINE AND ONSITE TESTING:
To be allowed entrance into the festival venues, you must have either proof of vaccination or a COVID-Negative Test as described below. You only need to meet one of the three requirements below:
-
PROOF OF VACCINATION: Bring a copy of your vaccination card. This can be a photo on your smart phone or a paper copy. Please keep your original vaccination card safe at home; OR
-
COVID-NEGATIVE TEST PERFORMED WITHIN 72 HOURS OF ARRIVAL AT FESTIVAL: Bring proof of a Negative Covid Test performed within 72 hours of arriving at the festival consisting of a copy of a laboratory test result or a Doctor’s note confirming the negative test results along with the date and time that the test was performed; OR
-
COVID NEGATIVE TEST PERFORMED AT THE FESTIVAL: You can order the Abbot BinaxNOW COVID Test and this can be performed at the festival. Click on the following link for more information on how to order your test for onsite testing at the festival. This test is only necessary if you have not been vaccinated or do not have a negative test within 72 hours of arrival to the festival. Go to the following link for more information:

CHECK YOURSELF FOR SYMPTOMS: IF YOU HAVE ANY POSSIBLE COVID SYMTOMS PLEASE STAY HOME! Before leaving for the festival, perform a self-check to see if you have any of the following symptoms by clicking this button:

SPECIAL COLOR WRIST BAND: Everyone who is vaccinated or has had a negative COVID test as described above, and after ensuring that they do not have any of the symptoms identified in the link above, will be given a SPECIAL COLOR WRIST BAND which must be worn at all times. Volunteers will ask to see your wrist band and badge when you enter any festival venue.
VERY IMPORTANT: You will not be allowed into a venue if you do not have both your BADGE and a SPECIAL COLOR WRIST BAND.
SOCIAL DISTANCING AND MASKS: We will follow Social Distancing and Mask Wearing rules as required by the DoubleTree. In public areas such as the lobby and hallways, you MAY BE ASKED to continue to wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. Once inside the music venues, you may remove your mask if you wish to do so.
HAND HYGENE: Please practice good hand hygiene, using sanitizer and washing your hands frequently and respect each individual’s choice on personal protection measures.
DANCERS: If you are a dancer, we recommend using hand sanitizer before dancing with a new partner and washing your hands between sets. Courtesy also dictates that every dancer recognize that some dancers may choose to wear a mask or shield, and/or use gloves. Some dancers may choose to dance only with those who are vaccinated. As always, please be kind, courteous and respectful of everyone.
